Lights Out 3/1Posted by F machine on 3/1/11 at 10:34 pm
Looked and did not see a thread for it this week.
I thought the episode tonight was good. I think the new trainer is a great character. I'm not sure if I would want him as my trainer. On the one hand, he is crazy as frick, but he is also really dedicated and knows his stuff. Hard choice.

Was that the guy from Oz? I think so far it's been a solid FX show.

This is only the second episode I see. I started watching it last week. It's really good so far. I was just thinking the exact same thing about his new trainer. You're right, great character. He does seem to have some issues, I hope he keeps it together.
I grew up around boxing and his new trainer comes off as pretty believable for a TV show. It seems something pretty heavy happened in the past between he and his old fighter.
Looks like it's gonna be a good series. Leary's wife's a bit of a MILF too.

If this is your second episode you should go watch the others. Pretty good stuff.

Yup
I'm not sure how this plays out. Remember before the last fight they were all saying he needs his family to be his best. Now the new trainer is trying to isolate him from his family.

In a lot of ways I do agree with the trainer though. For the most part, his family are a bunch of leaches. He still wants him to be around his wife and kids, just not his siblings and father.

I still think the wife is a bitch. She obiviously spent a lot of his money, ditched him when he tried to do something about it, now is all happy after he wins the fight.

He needed to cut his brother off for a while. His brother is the main reason he's broke. I get his sisters concern, but I don't understand why the dad wants back in the camp now. I think that lights is going to be better off with the new trainer, he's crazy and knows his shite.

He and his wife pretty much raised Rich 'Death Row' Reynolds, because he had no family, taught him how to fight, once he started winning he got full of himself, fired him and deserted him.

quote:Lights needed a new face in camp. If you work out, you know every so often, you need to shake things up. I think this is going to be good for him. It might not necessarily translate into Lights winning the heavyweight championship, but it will get him closer than old man O'leary could at this point in his career.
I think the new trainer is a great character. I'm not sure if I would want him as my trainer. On the one hand, he is crazy as frick, but he is also really dedicated and knows his stuff. Hard choice.
quote:As someone else recommended, catch yourself up. I grew up watching boxing, so perhaps I'm biased, but this is one of my favorites.
This is only the second episode I see. I started watching it last week.
quote:That is one aspect of this show that I actually love, because behind every athlete/celebrity that loses a fortune, there are a crew of these bastards riding the wave, but the difference between Lights and other high-profile bankruptcy is that Lights' leeches share his last name.
For the most part, his family are a bunch of leaches. He still wants him to be around his wife and kids, just not his siblings and father.
quote:His wife isn't entirely to blame. Lights bought her nice things to cover up for his indiscretions. In a couple of earlier episodes they talk about this. She doesn't care if they sell their home and some of their extravagant possessions, she just wants everything to be okay. The one thing that she has done for herself (that I can recall being mentioned) is asking Lights to 1) quit boxing and 2) put her through medical school.
She obiviously spent a lot of his money, ditched him when he tried to do something about it
quote:While I do agree, Lights was under the impression that they had money. His mistake is being too trusting of his brother. He should have been demanding weekly/monthly assessments of his accounts, then verifying them. That being said, I hate Johnny, but if not for him, there would be no need for this series.
He needed to cut his brother off for a while.
I absolutely love this show.

Bumping this thread since there's an episode tonight. I didn't start the thread so I can't update the title but maybe it can stay in one thread. Looks like a good series.

Who saw this tonight 3/8 and do you think he'll take his trainer back because of what happened at the end of the show?

Lights is hopeless. He will end up letting his brother suck him dry.

I am sure he will. I saw some previews last week that inicated thought that his dad was going to be involved in training. Todays episode was somewhat disappointing. I don't know why lights insists on keeping his brother around after what he did.
